GHALIA BENALI & ROMINA LISCHKA

Romina Lischka, with her Western classical background and mastery of Indian dhrupad, and Ghalia Benali, with her Arabic classical training and sensitivity to diverse styles, share a fascination for the music of Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe (1640-1700). The personality and life of this composer, French master of the viola da gamba, who preferred solitude to the public life of the court, remain a mystery. Lischka and Benali begin this musical encounter with the Pièces de viole. Thanks to mutual listening and the exchange of reflections on different styles and cultures, they develop a dialogue in which they evoke the common spirit of Arabic maqams, Hindu ragas and Sainte-Colombe's music together with the essence of what unites us.
