Planoles

Located in Ribes Valley, in the region of Ripollès, Planoles is a municipality that spreads over a stripe from north to south and crosswisely occupies the valley of the river Rigart, which opens from east to west. This peculiar placement has generated two distinct parts –one in the shadow and one in the sun– which provide the municipality with a wide range of spaces and wildlife. Planoles hosts two areas declared Areas of Natural Interest (PEIN): the Space of Montgrony mountain range and the Space of the Headwaters of the rivers Ter and Freser, also declared Natural Park and National Game Reserve, respectively. The ancient houses, characterized by the rusticity and the simplicity of their stone and slate, contrast with the lovely summer houses whose owners could not resist the endless natural values of the evergreen landscapes –expect in wintertime, when the valley lies under a white coat. The municipality of Planoles is composed of the villages of Planoles and Planès as well as of 6 hamlets, here and there (Can Fosses, Les Casetes, El Molí, Cruells i el Serrat, l’Aspre and El Puig).
