J. S. Bach ‘s sacred cantata called Ich habe genug was probably presented for the first time in 1727 during the celebration of Maria’s Purification. It narrates the moment in which Jesus is together with Simon, to whom the Holy Spirit had been given the hope to meet the Messiah before dying. The OBC offers a version characterised by an immense expressive tension and a text full of joy and hope that come into conflict with a music full of sorrow and dissonances which allow to strengthen both the sadness and the cheerfulness of that achieved desire. The second part of the programme takes us to the music for theatre written by authors from different nations: Henry Purcell, Emmanuel d'Astorga, Antonio Caldara and Georg Friedrich Händel.
