La Vansa i Fórnols

Located at the foot of the southern slope of the Cadí mountain range, in the valley of the Vansa river, we find Cornellana, one of the population centres that is part of the municipality of La Vansa i Fórnols, in the region of Alt Urgell. Together with the villages of Sorribes de la Vansa, head of the municipality, Fórnols de Cadí, Adraén, Ossera, and other villages or towns, some of which are uninhabited, Cornellana is part of one of the most attractive municipalities in the region. The most outstanding building in the town is the Church of Sant Pere, which dates from 1818 and is considered as a cultural asset of local interest. The original temple was built on the outskirts of the town, where there are still the ruins. Inside the church there are two Gothic altarpieces, dedicated to Sant Pere and the Goigs de la Verge. The Church of Sant Pere was restored in 2006, as part of the project to restore the churches and the Gothic altarpieces in the municipality.
