Berga, capital and hub centre of the Berguedà, stretches at the foot of the mountain range of Queralt and faces the high valley of the Llobregat River. Its privileged location in the Pre-Pyrenees turns the city into a meeting point for nature and trekking lovers. Berga also offers a cultural heritage of great value: the old part of town, which dates from the 12th century and it is still surrounded by the remains of the wall, the square of Sant Pere, centre of the Patum’s celebration (World heritage since 2005), the medieval portal of Santa Magdalena, the church of Sant Joan de Berga, the parish church of Santa Eulàlia, the Palace of the Peguera or the Sanctuary of the Queralt, also known as “The Balcony of Catalonia”.
