Ger

Ger is located in the very heart of the sunny area of Cerdanya, between Cerdanya Plain –next to the river Segre– and Puigpedrós peak, at 2,916 m above sea level. These two spots situated at both ends of the municipality host two sites of natural interest that show all the value of the local natural heritage: Espai Natura 2000 Tossa Plana-Puigpedrós, with interesting mountain pine groves, and Espai Natura 2000 Riberes of Alt Segre, that is home to the most impressive river forest in Cerdanya. Located in the different villages of the municipality, the series of Romanesque churches are worth the visit. The most renowned is Santa Eugènia de Saga church, characterized by its attractive Romanesque portal. Cal Sindreu Aquarelle Museum is also outstanding. Apart from its important art collection, the building is also very singular, as it preserves all the essence of the rural architecture of the Pyrenees. Traditional livestock farming is the basis of an agri-food production that offers high added value: goat and cow cheese, beef and lamb, organic eggs… These top quality products go hand in hand with the fame that Ger’s restaurants and cuisine have reached throughout the years.
