Based in the region of El Pallars Sobirà, this municipality consists of six annexed villages (Aidí, Arestui, Baiasca, Montenartró, Romadriu and Sant Romà de Tavernoles). It is located in a very mountainous area, surrounded by la Vall d’Àneu, la Vall de Cardós and la Vallferrera. The most significant element of Llavorsí is the Noguera Pallaresa, a symbolic river for rafting. Wild-water canoeing is one of the main appeals of the municipality—thousands of people practice this sport in the Noguera Pallaresa every summer. Apart from the river, the region is characterized by landscapes of great natural and cultural value. Moreover, Llavorsí is home of the office of the Parc Natural de l’Alt Pirineu (“Nature Park of the Alt Pirineu”). We must also highlight the stone houses with slate roofs, which represent the Pyrenean architectonic tradition, as well as the numerous Romanesque hermitages of the region.
