Bach, adapted and original versions

Rafael Ruibérriz de Torres, transverse flute
Guillermo Turina, cello
Alfonso Sebastián, clave

Works by J. S. Bach.
The sonata da chiesa, which dates back to the Baroque period, was traditionally used to accompany religious services. However, with the passage of time, that musical form broke away from the religious circles and became a music aimed at entertainment. This is the case of J. S. Bach’s three sonatas for flute and continuous bass presented by Temperamento: despite having the form of sonata da chiesa, they were written to delight the princes and kings from his circle. For the attendees’ entertainment and preserving the mysticism that characterises the primitive origin of the pieces, the three performers offer a programme that mixes these three great sonatas with some of the most famous scores of the prestigious German author, in both original version and adapted to transverse flute, cello and clave.
