Although the music for violin composed in northern Italy during the 17th century is quite well-known, the repertoire of the south of the peninsula is yet to be discovered. At that time, Naples, Palermo and Messina were going through great prosperity while Milan and Venice had become two leading lights of modernity that attracted great artists and their innovations. Those southern territories were also experiencing the growth of an instrument that rapidly became indispensable for the expression of affetti: the violin. The programme plunges us into that practically unreleased instrumental repertoire from southern Italy.

Guided tour: Legends about water in Els Banys

Hour: 9.00h (Meeting point: Town Hall)

Strolling through Els Banys d’Arles will allow you to discover the legends related to the local fountains and washing places such as the legend of the laundry fairies. After visiting the spring and the ancient Pre-Romanesque sanctuary, you will go to Montjolet, pass La Madona and then go back to the town.
