The trio sonata was a key reference for instrumental music. This simple structure, based on the dialogue between two melodic instruments and an accompaniment, gave rise to the varied combinations of baroque chamber music. Etymologically speaking, the term “chamber music” clearly shows that it was aimed at being performed by non-professional musicians in a domestic or court context, where the presence of an audience was quite exceptional. Unfortunately enough, in the Iberian Peninsula, this musical practice was not very common and the few composers who cultivated this genre turned their eyes to the exterior market. Acadèmia 1750’s programme revolves around the Pla brothers –prolific composers of that musical genre that can be found in archives worldwide– and is completed by works from others national authors of the same period.
